Valkenswaard CSI2*- Another fantastic 3 days of jumping

We had another superb weekend at Tops International Arena - where the team there put on a brilliant week of sport. All of our horses jumped some fantastic rounds and picked up some top placings amongst a strong field.

Goldfinger – He’s the man!

…with the Midas touch. The star of the show at Riesenbeck was definitely this wonderful 8yo gelding. In fact, we would like another 10 horses just like him! By Goldfever, out of Edwina Alexander’s top mare Pia Lotta – he just keeps jumping fantastic, effortless clear rounds and proving he is a horse for the top of the sport.

Peelbergen CSI2*

The horses continued to look fantastic at the second International CSI2* Show of the summer, this time at the amazing Dutch facility, Peelbergen

A successful return to competition!

Over the last 4 months, we have focused on a tailored training and management programme for each of the horses, and as a result they have all restarted in competition stronger, more relaxed and mentally happier than before.

The 8yos step up to the big sport

Its been a very successful two weeks here at Sunshine Tour, with several of our special 8yos stepping up to the big sport, and we've picked up some great results along the way. All the horses are feeling on top form and thriving in the great weather and fantastic facilities at this wonderful show.

Loeki is on top form at Sunshine Tour!

The horses have all had a solid start to the tour, jumping clear rounds and picking up some impressive placings too.

The red-headed super model is the star of the week to start 2020!

Autumn MET II Tour Update

I travelled to this tour with my priority being to develop and bring on the younger horses that we have given more time to get stronger at home before doing too much with them in the competition ring. Knockout Van’t Paradijs (Breemeersen Adorado x Carabas) the super talented nine year old who had stepped up to 5* during the summer got a well-earned holiday at home!

Dinard – The most beautiful show in the world!

For myself and the entire team at IN Showjumpers this remains top of our list as the most beautiful show in the competition calendar, with fantastic sport at the very top level and an electric atmosphere created by the ever enthusiastic French crowds.

Spruce Meadows – isn’t just a competition it is a life experience!

I can know say with first-hand experience the educational benefit for both horses and riders from
spending 5 weeks at the Spruce Meadows 5* Summer Series cannot be underestimated.

When your horse is barely tall enough to see over the jumps at Spruce Meadows, Calgary!

Canada is a vast country … and their showjumps aren’t far behind! However, both Loekie van’t Lindenhof z (Toulon x Nonstop) and Knockout rose to the occasion and jumped like heroes!... despite Knockout barely being able to see over the fences!

Knockout Van’t Paradijs steps up to the top

Never in my wildest dreams did I think when I tried Knockout as a very weak, uneducated five year old that one day I would be jumping a Nations Cup on him! However four years later after many hours of training by both my sister initially and latterly myself, the blood sweat and tears has paid dividends!

11 years ago my first international show!

It was great to be back in France at this top venue, the footing in the grass arena was perfect and the experience for the three young horses I took could not have been better. The atmosphere at the French shows is always great and I really hope I can return next year.

Hard work, Focus and Attention to detail pays off in the 2* Grand Prix MET II

The first week of MET II finished with a “shining moment day” courtesy of Knockout Van’t Paradijs (9 year old Adorado x Carabas)

MET 1 – 2019 Complete!

A week to reflect on the performance of each of the horses I competed during the first two weeks of competing in 2019! Time to review the videos with the rest of the team and discuss the areas of training that we need to focus on for each horse. Also time for the support team to visit:

Back in the Sunshine at Oliva Nova with @itsalanthegoat!

Alan made his first journey to Spain, to be part of the “competition crew”.... he is making the most of his vacation, eating as much hay as possible, stopping for snacks and naps in between his security guard duties!

Thank you IN Showjumpers – Looking forward to 2019 and beyond!

I want to share with you a message from the Managing Director of IN Showjumpers , the business that owns the amazing horses I am lucky to be riding and competing.

Longines Masters – Paris

There is no better way to finish the year than at this amazing show! It is always a test for the young horses to come indoors at the end of the year as we tend to train and compete them outdoors almost exclusively until they are eight year olds.

MET Tour 2018 over and out!!!

No better way to finish than with this exceptional performance by 8 year old Knockout Van’t Paradijs.

Week II MET Tour - Quelbora Merze 3 rd in Grand Prix

A fantastic finish to a week which saw all the young horses jumping well.

Thank you Samshield for this amazing helmet!

The horses and I all enjoyed our first week back in Spain, in particular to feel Quelbora Merze, my horse of a lifetime feeling so fresh and happy as he sped around the 1.45m Longines Ranking class to 5th place on Thursday was very special. This horse has given me so many opportunities and special moments way beyond my dreams since my first round on him here three years ago.

An exciting future ahead jumping for Canada!

It is with great pride and excitement that I can tell you that in the future I will be jumping under the Canadian Maple Leaf!

Knockout Van’t Paradijs (8 year old Adorado x Carabas) steps up at Zandhoven!

Having benefited from a great educational show at Dinard earlier in August, Knockout the scopey, blood 8 year old came out firing on all cylinders at Zandhoven winning the 2* Grand Prix Qualifier on day one, not an easy task with 100 starters!

Elmo to Double H Farm

After having the pleasure to compete Elmo (video) around Europe this summer, I am delighted to say that the 8yo gelding will continue his career with Double H Farm.

Loeki shines in Dinard

It was amazing to be back in Dinard again, it has to be the most beautiful show in the calendar and the grass arena is not only stunning but also testing and educational for horse and rider.  We made the trip with 3 horses, Knockout Van’t Paradijs, 8 year old, Loeki van het Lindenhof z 7 year old and a French client, Nicolas Michel.

Falsterbo – our favourite show of the year!

I cannot tell you how privileged I felt being invited to come back to Falsterbo this year again. (If you are reading this and haven’t been booked your accommodation and tickets for next year now!! It has the best jumping, the best sport, the best atmosphere and the friendliest people. And hopefully I
will also see you there in 2019!) Jana Wannius and his team do the most amazing job!

A focus on fitness, nutrition and an Olympic Training Centre bring success in the Netherlands!

We loved our first trip to Arnhem 3 *, hosted within the Sports Centre Papendal, an Olympic Training Centre where around 400 athletes train on a daily basis in an amazing complex hiding in a stunning wooded area.

The horses are now enjoying a short break in the paddocks having returned home from 2 great weeks at the CSI2* show in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands. All 6 horses had a great two weeks of competing.

Eindhoven 2018

A beautiful show in a wonderful city run by fantastic people...For many years I have wanted to be able to jump at Eindhoven and this year was my lucky year! The horses and I had a plan on the lead up and worked hard to be fit and ready for success to make the most of this opportunity.

Elmo finishes 6th in the 1m45 ranking class in Spain

Having a seahorse in the stable over the past weeks might have been helpful!  However we persevered through the weather and the horses continued to develop from jumping in the many different grass and sand arenas.

Fantastic second week at the Sunshine Tour

It has been a fantastic second week in Spain despite the bad weather!
