Knockout Van’t Paradijs steps up to the top

Never in my wildest dreams did I think when I tried Knockout as a very weak, uneducated five year old that one day I would be jumping a Nations Cup on him! However four years later after many hours of training by both my sister initially and latterly myself, the blood sweat and tears has paid dividends!

In April when we were asked if Knockout would be available to represent Canada at the CSIO Nations Cup Show at La Baule in May we were delighted but apprehensive if he would be ready. We rerouted our competition plan and put in a place a program of shows leading up to this to give him recent experience on grass at La Touquet, however we all knew this was still a HUGE step up for the 9 year old talent. But boy did he rise to the occasion and he was the best performing horse on the Canadian Team in both rounds despite a big miss by me at the first fence in the second round! He jumped two amazing rounds looking like he had been jumping 1.60m tracks for some time and certainly not that it was his debut at this level!

As result of this performance another door opened for him to compete at the world famous Spruce Meadows Summer Series in Calgary…. A dream come true for me! For many years this has been one of the most prestigious and toughest shows in the world! .. and so our journey continues! Flying out with his eight year old stable mate, Loeiki Van Het Linenhof Z (Toulon x Nonstop) and Karin Andersson who does an amazing job taking care of them… they touched down in Calgary last Monday fresh, relaxed and ready for action!
